The Secret to Summer Skin
Get ready for glowing skin with this summer secret – iced tea!
Not only is iced tea a refreshing drink, but it can also help reduce puffy and dark under-eye circles. The caffeine present in Earl Grey and other black tea helps shrink blood vessels beneath the skin, thereby diminishing darkness around the eyes.
For skin hydration and toning, moisten your face with chilled green tea. Use a cotton pad soaked in green tea to extract impurities, minimise pores and restore your skin’s natural radiance.
As summer draws to a close, nobody wants their tan to fade. Get ahead of the game by using this beauty tip: massage your skin with a sponge drenched in black tea or indulge in a bath infused with it to prolong your tan’s vibrancy.
For those of you who also enjoy drinking iced tea, follow the recipe below for a refreshing Hibiscus hydration:
The ingredients (serves 4):
- 4 cups of water
- 2 tbsp dried hibiscus flowers
- Juice of 1 lime
- Stevia
Optional
- Ice cubes
- Lime slices
The recipe:
Add water to a medium saucepan.
Place hibiscus flowers in a looseleaf tea bag and set in the pot of water. If you do not have a tea bag and instead want to use a fine mesh strainer, you can place the flowers directly in the water.
Bring to a boil. Once boiling, reduce to a simmer and allow to cook for 15-20 minutes.
Carefully remove the tea bag and allow the pot to cool for about 15 minutes or until cool enough to handle. Or if straining through a fine mesh strainer, allow to cool slightly before doing so.
Transfer tea to the fridge to cool (at least 2 hours).
Once the tea has cooled, add lime juice and stevia and stir.
When ready to serve, cut a slit in each lime slice and place on the rim of the serving glasses.
Fill serving glasses with ice cubes and pour hibiscus iced tea over the ice cubes.
